Claudia Jean Bio
Many paths have led to Claudia Jean's expertise. Intellectual curiosity came early and stayed late. As a toddler, her favorite word was "Why?" It has remained her guiding light ever since. To that Why? she has added "How?" Her love of science and her formal education in Dental Hygiene at Oregon Health Sciences University gave her a deep regard and understanding of the human body and how it works. Of particular continuing interest is the human mind, the mind/body connection and just how what we think and say affects our body chemistry. Her love of business and investing led to a BSBA degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha and membership in the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She led a trade delegation to Asia for her Finance professor. She also built an advertizing publication business that sold three years later to a national competitor for one million dollars. The competitor had considered the territory as too small to be viable. Claudia Jean was selected to be Director of Public Relations for Creighton University St. Joseph Center for Mental Health. She earned this position not because of her public relations experience, which was negligible, but because of her communication skills. The hospital needed positive feedback between administration and departments as well as the staff. She loved her position and those around her loved her passion as she championed bringing out the best in the hospital employees while also reveling in and fulfilling her PR duties. Claudia Jean used her two failed marriages to explore her own Why?. She took ownership and moved on to her "soul-mate" experience. This path led to her understanding of the core "I am" that is missing for so many. ADDRESSING WOMEN It was during the second divorce that Claudia Jean looked at the Active Retirement Living business that had been in the family from the early '60s, long before it became the standard it is today. She started a small traveling boutique providing exceptional service to her active retired women. She fully expected to be "taking care of them" but found that they indeed were giving her so much "life knowledge" that making money seemed almost redundant. From these rich experiences, Claudia Jean wrote the book, Aging With a Vengeance: Your Second Fifty Years Unleashed . One of the wonderful gifts of understanding she gained throughout those years was that old age is a goal, not a sentence. Her book outlines taking charge of your own journey forward and how to embrace the beauty of a long life well lived. Not happy with how clothing was fitting her ladies, she designed and manufactured slacks and blouses that better fit the needs of her clients. Eventually Claudia Jean opened up her program to women across the United States from Washington, D.C. to Seattle. Dressing so many women led to seeing a repeated pattern in the various shapes women are given genetically. She also saw a need to address why it is almost universal for women to "put down" their bodies. This negative self-talk is not only unfair to one's body but not good "medicine" for the long life that Claudia Jean espouses. Over time she became an expert in what styles "honor" each body type. In her passion for Why? and How? she dedicated her life to helping women of all ages, starting at puberty, step into the "beauty" of their particular genetic package. Her current claim to fame is a remarkable pant that has been called magical by many for its rich fabric and body-flattering drape. One high level marketing VP called it "the little black dress of pants!" ADDRESSING BUSINESS Claudia Jean's passion for the "I am" transitions well into the business arena. She teaches communication skills based on the need for corporate excellence. Her skills are particularly valuable during times of change--whether fast growth or downsizing. Historically, there has been a "proper" dress code within society. The total lack of such a code today causes havoc in the workplace. Employees often misunderstand the message they create, or do not comprehend the importance of that message. Using her Impression Management Strategies, Claudia Jean teaches employees to recognize that they are the "face" of their company and how to use proper dress and good manners to send a strong message. This training should be part of every corporate strategy!
